Coaching Achievements

Jaron Maestas had an immediate impact on the Central Oklahoma women's tennis program after taking over the reigns on June 9, 2016.

Maestas led the Bronchos to a 14-9 record in 2016-17, with UCO winning its first NCAA Division II national tournament match since 1999 in beating Nebraska-Kearney to make it to the Central Regional finals. Three players earned second-team All-MIAA honors and two more were honorable mention selections.

Jaron came to UCO after 11 years as the head professional at the Philcrest Hills Tennis Club in Tulsa.

A native of Las Vegas, N.M, Maestas played collegiately at both Division II Western New Mexico and Division I New Mexico State before graduating from NMSU in 2005.

He worked at the Picacho Hills Tennis Club in Las Cruces, N.M. while at NMSU and then took over as the head professional at Philcrest Hills in 2005.

Maestas' duties there included private and group lessons, league team coaching, tournament administration and the implementation of a strength and conditioning program.

He coached 10 players at Philcrest Hills who went on to win Oklahoma state high school championships and 12 players from his program went on to play at the collegiate level.

Maestas takes over a UCO program that went 18-10 in 2015-16 and all nine players on the roster were underclassmen.
