College Commitment
Countdown: Wilson a Boilermaker
by Gregg Jones, 31 October 2007

Thomas Wilson had dreamed about the moment for years, but the five-star recruit was caught off guard earlier this month when Purdue University offered him a spot on its highly regarded team.

The quick-handed Texan was excited at the thought of playing his college tennis for the Boilermakers, but he was also planning to visit more schools before making the biggest decision of his young career. He asked for time to think things over.

But the more he thought, the clearer the decision became.

"Purdue was the place to go," said Wilson, a 17-year-old senior at Ronald Reagan High School in San Antonio, Tex.

He dialed the number of Purdue Coach Tim Madden. And with that, the Tennis Recruiting Network's No. 49-ranked player in the Class of 2008 made his verbal commitment to Purdue.

"I'm really excited," he said. "I feel like all my hard work has paid off."
