Countdown: Marino to Don Yellow Jacket Next Fall

She took only one official visit, but for Blue Chip Rebecca Marino of Vancouver, British Columbia, it was enough. After meeting the coaches and the team during a September trip to the Georgia Tech campus, Marino was convinced it was the place for her.
"I really enjoyed it while I was there," Marino says. "I got to meet all the girls, and I think Bryan Shelton is a really amazing coach and the assistant Anca (Dumitrescu) is also amazing. All the girls are really nice, really supportive. It was another reason I wanted to go there, because they were so supportive."
Marino's visit coincided with the school's recognition of the team's 2007 NCAA title during half time of the Georgia Tech - Boston College football game, when they received their championship rings. But in addition to witnessing that special moment, Marino also observed a much more common one - a team practice - and she was struck by the serious tone.
"The girls got along really well and were very focused," Marino says. "There was no small talk, which impressed me because they didn't waste any time. They were pushing each other to keep playing, keep getting better, so I really liked that when I saw it."
