Liza Tankimovich didn't know anything about tennis when she first met Rita Pichardo, a former professional player from Cuba. Pichardo trains young players in the Los Angeles area, and helped Tankimovich pick out her first racket.
“My love for the sport started because of her,” Tankimovich said. “I can’t imagine what I would be doing right now if I wouldn’t have joined one of her beginner clinics when I was 6. She has inspired me to keep playing.”

Tankimovich became familiar with Loyola through her friend, Olivia Tracey, a sophomore on the team.
“I saw that it was a pretty good program and in a really good area and it got me interested,” she said. “Once I took the visit there, I just felt really welcomed and I really loved it.”
