Dealing with Injury and Rehabilitation
Share:

Throughout my life, going on 82 years, I have been lucky to play games and somehow have never suffered a serious injury or sickness that has sidelined me for a long period of time. As the years rolled on, my job led me to be a tennis coach at various locations before I finally ended up starting the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy, now IMG Academy.

Now, We started out with tennis and we grew and grew to become what we are today, the No. 1 training facility in the world. One of the unsung heroes of any facility is the rehabilitation center, and ours is one of the best of the world. I actually witness athletes come in and in a matter of time, they are back on the playing field.

There are two individuals that I have closely associated myself with and feel it is very important that I tell you about them and hope this will bring hope to some of you that are injured, and to your players that are physically fit, but somehow they spend most of their time making excuses about how unlucky they are. Read the next part of my article and ask yourself what you would have done if you were either Tommy Haas or Christian Harrison.

Tommy Haas

Tommy has been with me most of his life. Today, Tommy is 37 years old and was the ATP Comeback Player of the year in 2012. He hit a low ranking of the mid 300's and at the end of 2013 was #12 in the world. He has faced hip and shoulder problems and even had shoulder surgery twice in 2003.
