Luca Corinteli is getting a first hand look at what a large part of the college lifestyle would be like in the near future.

From learning on the accelerated path toward becoming a hopeful on the professional tennis circuit to sharing dormitory space with other students, Corinteli smiles when he thinks back on the experience thus far.

In the three years since he joined the United States Tennis Association's Training Center in Boca Raton, he's unearthed new talents. He has also scooped on life lessons since arriving from his hometown of Alexandria, Virginia. He's received an online education under the Kaplan College Preparatory School guidelines with a traditional high school curriculum that exceeds the state and national standards. And on the court, Corinteli continues his quest toward realizing his dream of turning pro one day.

Florida, in particular, has been good to him. In May, the 6'3" right-hander won an International Tennis Federation event in Plantation on a clay surface. He nearly won back-to-back ITF events after winning five matches and making it to the final of another event at the Delray Beach Tennis Center.

On July 24, Corinteli upped the ante.

After a one hour and 35 minute match, Corinteli yelled out "Yeah!" and flung his racquet into the air after breaking Noah Rubin of Rockville Centre, N.Y. for the fifth time to secure a 6-4, 6-2 victory in the Boys' 16s Clay Court National Championship in Delray Beach, Florida. The seven wins in the tournament grants Corinteli a wild card draw into a USTA men's futures event. It was the first gold ball that he received.
