Thanksgiving Champions Crowned at USTA National Indoors

Some of the top junior players in the nation spent their Thanksgiving holiday weekend competing for gold balls in the USTA National Indoor Championships.

From Kansas to Indiana to Chicago to Minnesota to New York and Massachusetts, singles and doubles champions were crowned in four divisions for boys and girls.

Boys 18 singles: No. 7 Mark Krupkin defeated Jimin Jung 6-3, 6-2 at Overland Park Racquet Club in Overland Park, Kansas.

Girls 18 singles: No. 2 Elizabeth Ionescu defeated No. 1 Capucine Jauffret 6-3, 6-3 at the Indianapolis Racquet Club in Indiana.

Boys 16 singles: No. 3 Drew Fishback defeated No. 14 Gregory Bernadsky 6-4, 6-2 at XS Tennis Village in Chicago

Girls 16 singles: No. 3 Karlin Schock defeated No. 13 Alexandra Wolf 6-4, 6-2 at Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Boys 14 singles: No. 1 Safir Azam defeated No. 4 Rafael Lopez 7-5, 6-4 at Midtown Athletic Club in Chicago

Girls 14 singles: No. 9 Margaret Sohns defeated No. 1 Reiley Rhodes 6-2, 1-0 retired (injury) at Twos Athletic Club in Toledo, Ohio

Boys 12 singles: No. 1 Smyan Thuta defeated No. 5 Andres Quijada 6-1, 6-2 at the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, New York.

Girls 12 singles: No. 4 Kathryn Cragg defeated No. 15 London Evans 6-2, 6-2 at Manchester Athletic Club in Manchester, Massachusetts.

Top-seeded Eli Kaminski and 10th-seeded London Evans won the first gold balls of their careers by capturing the singles titles at the USTA 14 Winter National Championships in San Antonio, Texas. Both won in straight sets in the final.
