The moment she had been anxiously awaiting finally arrived, and Nikita Uberoi rushed to the computer to learn her fate.
Uberoi had committed to play at
Brown University, but she still needed to be officially admitted.
The Boca Raton, Fla., resident pulled up the school's web page, but the site had crashed because so many other applicants were doing the same.
After waiting a few more hours, Uberoi finally made it through.
She furiously clicked a few buttons until a letter flashed on her screen.
Uberoi only read the first word - "Congratulations" - before she began screaming and crying.
Her fraternal twin sister, Nimita, received the same news to launch a dual celebration in the Uberoi household.
They had a friend videotape their reaction so they could show their parents.
"I can say it was one of the happiest moments of my life," Nikita said. "It was so nerve-racking having to wait, but I was so thrilled to get in. We were both jumping for joy."
Nikita was planning to take next year off to play professional tournaments, but she changed her mind once the NCAA issued a recent rule change.
Players can now only take six months off after high school graduation rather than one year.
Nikita informed Brown coach Paul Wardlaw of her decision, and he was able to find a spot in this year's class for the four-star recruit to join her sister.
