With the holidays over and a New Year beginning, junior tennis players are making resolutions concerning their game. We caught up with a few of those recruits who are keeping up with their resolutions - in the Prince Hot 100.

The Prince Hot 100 lists are published each month, and the January Hot 100 lists feature the one hundred boys and girls who most improved their ranking during the month of December. You can find out more about the Prince Hot 100 - and how the lists are calculated - by reading here.

Aaron Jumonville (Nashville, Tenn.)

Making his second consecutive appearance on the Prince Hot 100 List, three-star sophomore Aaron Jumonville jumped nearly 140 spots in the rankings over the course of just two months - from #311 to #172. He nabbed third place in the Winter Southern Closed Sectionals and reached the finals of the Kentucky State Indoors, posting a 12-2 record for the month of December.

Over the past few months, Jumonville and his coaches, Lyle Jumonville, Andy Veal and Tom Boysen, have been focusing on his mental game and his serve. "Both of these seem to have improved lately, and I am hitting my serve bigger than ever," Jumonville said.

Jumonville found this practice to pay off last month, and he attributes his success to his concentration on those two aspects of his game. "I have been very mentally tough in tournaments lately, and I give my dad a lot of credit for working with me on it," Jumonville said. "At this level, everyone has solid strokes and can play well, but it comes down to mental toughness in my opinion."

A perfect example of the 5'11" athlete's newfound mental toughness was his match against five-star opponent Andrew Schafer in the Winter Southern Closed. The two sophomores were competing for third and fourth place, and Jumonville was wary of the match because of his previous two-set loss to Schafer. However, Jumonville came out on top this time - 4-6, 6-4, 10-3. Jumonville also noted, "Andrew is a really nice kid and has great sportsmanship."

This positive attitude is also reflected in Jumonville's relationship with his friends. He always travels to tournaments with his best friend, three-star sophomore Andrew Graham. "We always encourage each other at tournaments, train together, and are always trying to get better," Jumonville said.
