Georgia's Bryde Unveils Tennis Mentors Online Course
Share:

Trent Bryde realized once he arrived at the University of Georgia he would have to put his business ambitions on the back burner.

Bryde started Tennis Mentors in 2017 as a way to provide young players with an opportunity to learn and get advice from blue chip recruits.

But the UGA senior didn’t want to break any NCAA amateurism rules while playing for the Bulldogs.

That is no longer a worry since the NCAA passed legislation in June that allows college athletes to profit off their name, image and likeness (NIL). The loosened restrictions paved the way for Bryde and his partner, Joseph Gandolfo, to release an updated version of Tennis Mentors.

The two are offering an online course ($39.95) consisting of more than 35 short videos that provide advice on things like tournaments, equipment, travel and coaching options. It’s meant to guide players from the beginning stages of tennis through college and into the transition to the professional level.

“It’s really about using the experiences I have had to help the next generation,” Bryde said. “I am not in the business of teaching forehands and backhands. There are many qualified coaches that are very fit for that. It’s not that I can’t do it, that’s just not what Tennis Mentors stands for. It’s a bunch of information that I feel is pretty invaluable to a player as they go through the junior tennis process.”
