SPOTLIGHT ON Takehiro Shuda (Ranchos Palos Verdes, California)

Music on your playlist: I listen to a lot of music that calms down my nerves before matches and I also listen to rap if I want to get hyped up.

Dream vacation destination: Italy. I really like food. I love pasta. I love pizza. I love gelato. It’s really a food lover’s dream to go to Italy.

Favorite food: Sushi because I am Japanese and I grew up eating a lot of sushi. I was born in Japan so I have a love for sushi.

Favorite athletes: Rafael Nadal and Dominic Thiem. I admire Rafa for how hard he works and how intense he is. I also like Jeremy Lin because I used to play a lot of basketball when I was little and watched a lot of him.

Future occupation: I am not really sure. My mom thinks I can be a good lawyer and my grandparents think I can become an architect or something like that because I can draw.

If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive, who would it be: Muhammad Ali because when I was really little I wathed motivational videos and there was a lot of Muhammad Ali. I don’t really know him as an athlete, but I want to see him as a person.

Must-watch TV show: Attack on Titan

Favorite movie: The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift

If I am not playing tennis, I am … listening to music, playing ping pong and hanging out with friends.
