SPOTLIGHT ON Nikki Ridenour (Minneapolis, Minnesota)

Music on your playlist: Usually anything from the 2000s that I grew up listening to, like Katy Perry or Taylor Swift.

Dream vacation destination: I would really like to go to the Galapagos. I went there as a kid and I would love to go back and do research there.

Favorite food: Cheesecake

Favorite athlete: Victoria Azarenka, because I grew up watching her and she has a really good swing and volley. Plus, she’s from Belarus and my mom is from Belarus.

Future occupation: I know I want to go into doctoring, so I may work with animals and be a vet. I have always really liked pets, and that seems like a nice way to help them out. I have two pet birds - Ace and Wilson.

If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive, who would it be: Charles Darwin. He did a lot of research in the Galapagos and was into birds. He really liked birds. I would ask him why he chose the Galapagos to look at and not anywhere else in the world.

Must-watch TV show: Schitt’s Creek

Favorite movie: Mulan. My high school team has watched it every year so far as a team bonding thing.

If I am not playing tennis, I am … doing homework or hanging out with my birds trying to teach them new tricks. I am trying to teach them how to play dead and roll over, but they don’t like to roll over.
