Brogan Pierce didn’t realize an invitation to train in Germany would be such a great jumpstart for college.
The three-star senior from Batavia, Illinois was invited by a friend to attend the BASE Tennis Academy last summer in Grenzhausen. They spent five weeks working on their games and exploring the nearby cities.

“I really loved it. I think it was awesome for me because it really gave me a lot of confidence in my independence for college,” Pierce said. “Now that I have been alone in another country for five weeks, I feel like I can definitely survive college.”
Pierce committed to Western Michigan as a junior, and will finally be making it official by signing his national letter of intent once the signing period opens on Nov. 13.
“I wanted to play Division I tennis. That was my goal because I really want to try and get as good as I can, so I want to play at a high-level school,” Pierce said. “Their schedule is really good and I love the coach. He is a great guy. It really had everything I was looking for.”
