When college coaches asked Todd Folsom for a scouting report on Kevin Zhu, he told them Zhu's action speak louder than his words.
Kevin Zhu Has Committed To Penn
“He is a pretty quiet kid. He's not a rah-rah guy, but he is going to take care of tennis and lead by example,” said Folsom, who has worked with Zhu for the last decade at King Daddy Sports. “He doesn't talk much and he doesn't brag about what he's done in junior tennis, but he is extremely confident in his abilities.”
Zhu has committed to attend the University of Pennsylvania. The blue chip senior from Houston received his admittance letter last week from Penn's Wharton School of business.
Zhu had two other Ivy League schools – Columbia and Yale – on his radar as well as in-state options in Rice and Texas.
“I wanted to find a good academic school as well as a good tennis school, so Penn's Wharton business school was one of the main thing that stood out,” said Zhu, the No. 2-ranked senior in Texas. “Coach (David) Geatz really recruited me well and talked to me about a lot of things when I went to visit Penn. I enjoyed the advice he gave me.”
