Conversation with John Isner

One of the best stories in American tennis over the past year is that of John Isner. Hot on the heels of leading Georgia to a national championship, Isner has had great success on the pro tour. Isner won a string of three-set matches to reach the final of the Legg Mason against Andy Roddick, and he followed that up by reaching the third round of the US Open. Isner's successes have shined a bright light on college tennis.

Questions and Answers

TennisRecruiting.net: First of all, congratulations on your spring and summer. Winning an NCAA team championship, reaching the final of an ATP event, and taking a set off of the #1 player in the world in the third round of the US Open is a great four months. Is there one moment that stands out the most?

John Isner: Thanks a lot. Believe it or not, the moment that most stands out about my summer so far was winning the NCAA Championship in Athens this past May. My #1 goal in my time at Georgia was to win a team championship, and getting that done during my senior year in front of our fans was an amazing experience.

I have played in front of pretty big crowds this summer - especially at the US Open against Federer. But playing in front of 6,000 screaming bulldog fans was a moment I will never forget.
