A coaching staff with vast professional experience and a welcoming atmosphere on his recent visit were the keys to blue chip senior Alex Frusina's (WTN 9.1) verbal commitment to the Auburn Tigers.

A summer that included playing in the US Open men's doubles main draw with Adhithya Ganesan as the Kalamazoo 18s champions, a quarterfinal appearance at US Open Junior Championships and a title at last month's ITF J300 Pan American Closed didn't leave Frusina much time to focus on his college choice. But two weeks ago, the 17-year-old from Conroe, Texas found a window for visits to Texas, Wake Forest, Cornell and Auburn and concluded that the Tigers would be the best option as he sets his sights on a professional career.
"When I got to Auburn, I realized it was the place for me," said Frusina, currently No. 7 in the class of 2024. "I would have access to one of the best coaching staffs in the country. All the coaches there have seen tennis at the highest level, had incredible success as players or coaching players who have reached the biggest heights in the game. That gave me a confident and assuring feeling that when I shoot for those goals, I'll be in the best hands."
