From the last of the ITA National Team Indoor Championships in Kentucky to a junior major in sunny San Diego, March was packed with tennis of every variety. Teenagers claimed titles on the ITF Junior and Pro Circuits, while former collegians were successful in the Caribbean, North Africa, India, South America and Europe.
The last of the six ITA National Team Indoor titles of 2022 went to a first-time winner, with the University of Chicago, seeded No. 3, defeating top seed Emory 5-4 in the Division III final held in Nicholasville, Kentucky. After dropping all three doubles points and a singles match, the Maroons trailed the 2021 NCAA D-III champions 4-0 before storming back, with Claudia Ng earning the fifth point in a third set at line 3. Robin Montgomery and Ashlyn Krueger
The reigning US Open girls doubles champions earned their first pro title as a team last month at the $60,000 USTA women's Pro Circuit tournament in Arcadia, California. The 17-year-olds did not have to play a point in securing that title, receiving a walkover from No. 2 seeds Harriet Dart of Great Britain and former University of Southern California star Giuliana Olmos. It's Montgomery's third pro doubles title, and the first for Krueger.
